CIC – Will you make a change?

A year ago Village Power CIC undertook a project with children in St Andrews school to think about the environment and the resources we use.  Some of the children in the Eco Club helped to produce a very short film, which was titled “Will you make a change”.   The film can be seen on the Village Power website at www.villagepowercic.co.uk

The film highlighted areas on which we have an impact, or need to consider, such as:- looking after the environment, food production, buildings and places to live, use of water, and keeping healthy.

The film was made the year following the drought, and that seems a distant memory after this year’s deluges of rain. Yet the messages within the film are becoming ever more pertinent. In the coming months the CIC will focus an article in the North Kilworth News on each of the areas highlighted in the film. Be it something local we can do or perhaps benefit, or maybe a national scheme that could help locally.

One such national programme that may be of interest and could certainly help in the energy area is the renewable heat incentive (RHI). It is a government scheme due to be launched in the spring this year for the domestic market to encourage a switch to renewable heating systems.  With claims from ofgem “Those without mains gas have the most potential to save on fuel bills and decrease carbon emissions.”*
